Description
U.K. publisher Persephone Books reprints neglected fiction and non-fiction, mostly by women writers and mostly dating from the early twentieth-century.
Join us for a fascinating evening with publisher Francesca Beauman, who will discuss why the company was founded, how the books are chosen, the thinking behind the unusual design, and what the future holds following this year’s 25th anniversary celebrations.
We’re also stocking some of their gorgeous collection, with their famed, colourful endpapers and a carefully-curated selection of political books, memoirs and literature in translation from under-appreciated woman writers.
This event is free but ticketed — although if you don’t have a ticket, we often accept walk-ins on the day! Should you wish to make a donation, proceeds go towards our not-for-profit programming, including writer residencies, community libraries, workshops and more.
