Books, cocktails, and a party in a bookshop? There’s perhaps only one thing better than enjoying this combination: doing so to help a good cause. Get your tickets now for this special event at Upstart & Crow on Thursday, Nov. 7!
All proceeds from ticket, drink and book sales will go toward our fall fundraising campaign to supercharge our not-for-profit literary programs. So with every book, sip and mingle, you’ll be supporting writers in our community through paid writer residencies and workshops, alongside our new programs that support climate solutions, writing parents, and so much more.
What better way to spend a cold autumn night? We’ll have a curated selection of our all-time favourite recommendations alongside the buzziest books of the season. Plus wine, beer from our dear friends at Persephone Brewing, and cocktails from the amazing Please! Beverage Co.
So whether it’s for some early holiday shopping, for a novel evening with friends, or even to meet some new ones, join us for our Party in a Bookshop!
Tickets are $50 and include:
- A $20 gift certificate for Upstart & Crow
- A wine, cocktail or beer of your choice
- Prize draw entries
- Book recommendations for you and loved ones

We are international in our outlook, and local in our sensibilities. We create opportunities to surface new talent and champion bold ideas through events, workshops, literary launches, unique partnerships — and yes, we also sell books!
Health precautions:
We want this event to be safe for all. Masks are welcome, though we won’t enforce them. We hope that folks who come will be vaccinated and boosted and will stay home if they feel ill.
Accessibility:
The main studio of our shop is accessible for folks with mobility aids. There is a washroom on the main floor available for attendees. The bar will be stationed in our loft mezzanine, though we will have runners available to bring down drinks.
