Monday, October 20, 2025

Upstart & Crow Studio

Description

Fragrant Harbour. The Garden City. Beautiful Island. Though small in geographic footprint, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan have outsized cultural identities which have carried each from fishing backwater to bustling colony to Asian Tiger status and beyond. Please join us on Monday, October 20th at 7pm for a spotlight on the exciting, fertile terrain of modern literature from these mesmerizing lands.

Our Long Table will be laden with regional delicacies savoury and sweet, fine teas and hot drinks will be on pour, and the conversation will meander through the past, present and future of these fascinating and important places.

Facilitated by Anna Ling Kaye, award-winning writer & CBC columnist, we will explore the newest works from Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan’s most brilliant minds as they take on conversations that are profound, poetic, and powerful.

You’ll leave with a special comprehensive take-home reading list of must-discover authors from these regions to continue exploring from home.

To support our non-profit programming and to help us cover costs, this event is $30. Spots are limited, so RSVP here
