We are proud to partner with the Thistalalh Library, a first-of-its kind community library in Bella Bella, in the heart of Haíɫzaqv (Heiltsuk) territory in the Great Bear Rainforest. The library’s curator, Jess Housty says, “Stories are sacred things. As Haíɫzaqv people, we really are nothing more than the sum of the stories we have lived in.”

The Thistalalh Library thrives as a source of new books for the community of about 1,300 people. Fiction, non-fiction, Indigenous and environmental titles, field guides — if you’d like to help grow the Thistalalh collection, please choose an amount you’d like to contribute towards a featured book of their choice. We’ll source books at cost and get more books into eager hands up the coast!
